What is the Half Fare Program?

The National Mass Transit Act of 1974 requires that certain routes operated by certain carriers receiving Federal Transit Administration subsidies maintain a standing policy that offers a 50% fare discount for senior citizens and people with disabilities during our off-peak hours.

Who qualifies for Half Fare?

Citizens age 65 and over, individuals with a disability benefit and Medicare cardholders are entitled to ride for half-fare on Trailways fixed route service (as specified below).

How is the Half Fare calculated?

The half fare is available on one-way or round-trip undiscounted fares only. It is NOT available on fares for which discounts already apply, such as 10-Trips, monthly, or weekly passes, etc.

Trailways fixed routes that are eligible for half fare during off-peak hours are:

Half Fares are not available on any other routes

When is the Half Fare available?

Half Fares are available on the bus routes during Off-Peak hours. Peak hours are defined as weekday travel (Monday-Friday) from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 7:29 p.m.

All other travel on the listed bus routes, including travel on weekends, is considered Off-Peak, and Half Fare is available.
