Behind the Little League World Series: The Motorcoach Company That Gets 20 Teams There and Home

PRESS RELEASE
FOR RELEASE – October 22nd, 2026

WILLIAMSPORT, PA –

When the Davenport Northwest Little League team reached the end of its run at the 2026 Little League Baseball World Series, it faced a complex path home. Rather than spending hours coordinating airline transportation, waiting at gates, and chancing airline disruptions, the team pursued an alternative. Susquehanna Trailways stepped in to coordinate motorcoach travel back to Davenport, tapping into a connected network of carriers capable of responding to transportation needs in real time as they developed throughout the tournament.

The World Comes to Williamsport

What began decades ago as an eight-team tournament has grown into an international event that brings teams and families from across the United States and around the world to a small Pennsylvania community.

That stage continues to grow. The 2026 Little League Baseball World Series was the most-watched tournament since 2015, averaging 1.1 million viewers across ABC, ESPN and ESPN2, a 7% increase over the previous year. The series featured 20 teams, with 10 representing U.S. regions and 10 representing international regions. This year, the now annual MLB Little League Classic added the Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers to the activity in Williamsport, with players from both Major League clubs visiting the Little League International Complex before facing one another at Journey Bank Ballpark at Historic Bowman Field.

As the reach of the tournament grows, so does the transportation system supporting it. And moving that many teams is not as simple as coordinating predetermined arrivals and departures. Teams arrive through different airports and on different schedules. Weather, maintenance and airline disruptions can change travel plans in an instant. Most importantly, the tournament itself determines when many teams will be ready to leave.

The Network Behind the Journey

Behind the games is a transportation system that has to respond in real time. For decades, Susquehanna Trailways has helped provide the motorcoach transportation that connects those moving pieces, meeting arriving teams, transporting teams during their time here to destinations outside the area, and helping them begin the journey home when their tournament comes to an end. This year, Aries Trailways and Fullington Trailways both contributed to the coordinated move.

As Eric Feerrar, AAA, North Central PA  who helps coordinate travel for the Little League World Series, put it to Amy at Susquehanna Trailways:

“We have a long, rich history of working with Susquehanna Trailways. Over the decades, the attention to driver safety, care for our clients, travel expertise and access to the Trailways network have been irreplaceable. At the Little League World Series, I knew I could rely on that expertise to navigate a difficult, last-minute request and find a way to get the team home.”

Getting the Davenport team home showed exactly what that network can do. Susquehanna got them to the airport but coordinated with Aries Trailways to move the team from Chicago so they didn’t have to sit and wait for a connection back to Davenport.IA..What could have been a complicated series of travel arrangements became a coordinated trip home, with trusted motorcoach operators working together across the route. This wasn’t the first time this season Aries helped with transportation through the Chicago area, they provided assistance with another tournament earlier in August.

Susquehanna’s longstanding membership in the Trailways network connects it with established motorcoach operators across North America. The Trailways network helps make those adjustments possible by connecting experienced operators with the professional drivers, equipment and resources needed to execute each trip safely and reliably.

When a transportation request stretches beyond the practical reach or available capacity of one operator, those relationships allow carriers to work together to solve the trip, rather than send the customer searching on Google for another solution. Through the years several Trailways team members have assisted in making these events happen.

Hometown Transportation on a National Scale

Motorcoach operators have spent generations connecting the places between airports, cities and hometowns. Their work is usually most visible only when something goes wrong and a group suddenly needs another way to get where it is going.

For the teams arriving in Williamsport, that means a motorcoach is there when the plane lands. For an international team with unexpected time after an elimination, it means transportation can be arranged for what comes next. And for a team from Davenport that simply wants to go home, it means there is still a way to get there.

For Susquehanna Trailways and the network supporting these journeys, connecting those places is simply what motorcoach operators do every day.
