Refund Policy (Effective August 1, 2024)

 

Tickets may be refundable if:

  • The ticket is a “Flexible Fare” ticket (which may be purchased online or at a terminal or agency location)
    (Only if the refund requests is made before the ticket expires, i.e., before departure time)

OR

  • The ticket is purchased online and includes the additional purchase of “Trip Protection
    (Available online only and restrictions apply.)

OR

  • The tickets are part of a Commuter / Multiride Fare
    (The name of the purchaser must match the person requesting refund. Also note that refunds void the volume discount and the refund must be requested within 60 days of the expiraion date.)

OR

  • Trailways has canceled the trip and was unable to provide alternate transportation within more than 90 minutes of the original departure time.
    (Booking fees will be refunded and no cancellation fee will be applied.)

OR

  • There Are Certain Unplanned Events

    Trailways may consider a refund for a non-refundable ticket, when the request is made before the scheduled departure time, and the documented circumstances may involve:

      • The death of a traveler, traveling companion, or immediate family members.
      • The Traveler is on active jury duty during the dates of planned travel.
      • The Traveler is a member of the Armed Forces under orders that prevent traveling on the scheduled date.

 

Conditions and restrictions apply to eligible refunds.

  • The wholly unused return portion of a refundable round-trip ticket is refundable.
  • Refundable tickets that have been reissued more than once will no longer be eligible for a refund.
  • When a passenger chooses to end trip by exiting at a location other than the location stated on the ticket, the ticket is considered redeemed for travel and a refundable ticket is no longer eligible for a refund.

Refund requests must be submitted to Customer Care at 499 Hurley Ave, Hurley, NY 12443 or Info@Trailways.com and must include the name of the purchaser and the passenger, a telephone number, an email address, the method of payment used (please do not send credit card numbers in your request) and the reason for refund / proper documentation. No refunds will be given at the bus station.

A 20% cancellation fee may be applied to all approved refunds and booking fees are nonrefundable.
